What kinds of issues to people seek therapy for?
People seek therapy for a variety of reasons including feeling depressed, unfulfilled, worried, angry, or empty. People also might want help to change behaviors that are troubling them or behaviors that affect their relationships or career. Some people seek therapy because they have a life goal that has not yet been reached and they are ready to explore their barriers.
What is your approach to therapy?
My approach is based on Carl Rogers' Person-Centered Therapy and Humanistic Psychotherapy.
I view each client as the expert on their own experiences, so I prefer to let the client guide the session once we get established. I believe in personal empowerment and self-determination, so I will support you on whatever you would like to work on. I do want to point out that I will never ask you to talk about something that you're not ready to get into!
What can I expect during the first session?
You can expect to talk about the concern(s) that brought you to see me and also about your background and personal history. You can share on a level that feels comfortable for you.
How long does a session last?
Each session lasts about 53 minutes. Most people see their therapist once a week for consistent progress to be made, but others may come to therapy twice a month, or even once a month.
